a pop of color: cobalt blue
In nails, eyeliner, hats, and the chunkiest headphones that have become a part of my sims avatar. I have always longed for an accessory that would define me and even though I thought it might be something classy like a sparkly bracelet or a well tied scarf, these 2016 cobalt blue beats headphones have become my Birkin bag. No outfit is complete without them, no trip traveled without them slung around my neck, and the best pro tip for finding me in a crowd is finding the headphones first.
Read this substack piece the other week that changed my life and I wholeheartedly agree. They are taking color from our world; beiges, browns, and greys reigning supreme. Deemed intellectual, professional, etc etc other words that to me just mean boring. The author of that piece states that “stripping us of colour is an attempt to create more conformity. A grey toned, anxious, whitewashed society that buys what they’re told, maximizing shareholder value.” & so true! The lack of colour speaks to a lack of creative freedom. I have also fallen prey to the trend of neutrals but every day that I spend immersed in the colors of nature and out of the monochrome of the internet I realize that color is about expression and emotion.
This year I’ve been trying to reclaim color one pop at a time. First up: Cobalt Blue.
